The Harmony Choir Mission is to Promote Community Harmony

The Harmony Choir is our youth development program that encourages personal confidence and social skills through introductory music lessons, choral participation and performance. In the process, it augments existing after school programs in partnership with other non-profit organizations. Through this program, we are enriching the lives of 150 at-risk students.

Our program focuses on children and families with the fewest resources and greatest need. It is delivered at no cost to participants. Activities include choral singing, vocal instruction, musicianship skills, and percussion activities. A qualified music education teacher instructs the classes. Our choirs meet once a week after school in 50 – minute sessions that meet Sunshine Standards (Florida State Curriculum). The other program we offer is two Harmony Choir summer camps.

Frequent “Friends and Family” Concert opportunities are arranged at host facilities. Twice a year we perform in large scale public performances combining all of the various Harmony Choirs. Free bus transport is provided for students and their families. Plans are underway for participation in ArtFest in Fort Myers, Community Day at Artis-Naples, and singing the National Anthem at sporting events. Advanced students may participate in full scale professional productions through the Youth Opera Chorus .

Through these activities, we enrich the lives of diverse group of children, teens and parents, encouraging them to engage and contribute to a harmonious community.

The Grace Place students love singing and performing, so our partnership with the Harmony Choir has allowed them to expand their musical skills, grow their creativity, and find pride in working with peers to accomplish a goal. The students especially love learning new songs and performing them in front of audiences at special occasions. This partnership is so valuable to us here at Grace Place as we seek to provide opportunities to empower youth so that they can reach their full potential.
